I Painted My Piano Mint (and It Was Easy!)

I was tired of the formal look of our piano, so I decided to give it a makeover. After considering several options I decided to go all out and paint the entire thing mint. Spoiler alert-I love it!

I was lucky enough to be gifted this piano by a former boss of mine. At first I was trying to love to the natural wood look, but in the end I realized it was a bit dark and formal for my tastes, so I decided to give it a makeover.

I had great luck using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the past when painting furniture, so I decided to go that route. I love that you don't have to prime or sand when using her paint-just start adding the paint to the furniture! Instant gratification. I wanted a mint color, so I ended up custom mixing my own color using her green and white paints.

I have to admit I was a bit nervous when my husband and I applied the first coat of paint, but I LOVED the color.

It took two coats of paint for us to cover the piano completely. You can see here that the color was a bit streaky at first, but the second coat took care of that!

Here she is in all her mint glory! Isn't it beautiful? And no, painting it did not change the ability to play on it...it functions exactly the same as before. Check out more details and photos on my blog!
