Jellyfish Decorations

Looking to make your nursery a magical underwater place? Make simple jellyfish decorations to hang from the ceiling that coordinate with your nursery bedding.

I matched my colors to some Disney Ariel nursery bedding. I just needed paper lanterns and tissue paper in pink and aqua.

I chose a 3-pack of hot pink paper lanterns. I found them at Hobby Lobby. With three different sizes, you can make three sizes of jellyfish.

To create the jellyfish tentacles, I cut layers of pink tissue paper into circles. Then, I cut the circles into spirals so the tentacles will spiral into twists.

For the short little tentacles that go around the body of the jellyfish, I cut long strips of aqua tissue paper. I folded pieces together and cut all the way along the length to create little loops. Then I used a glue stick to attach them to the bottom of the paper lantern. (There are more details in the blog post)

I glued about 4-5 rows of the aqua paper around the bottom third of the paper lanterns.

I taped the long pink tentacles to the inside of the paper lanterns. Then, I hung the entire jelly fish from small hooks in the ceiling. Make sure to hang them very high and on the other side of the room away from the baby's crib. I hung them in a corner of the room. They are nice to look at it, but not for baby to touch. As long as no one touches them, they stay looking lovely.
