I love repurposing ordinary glass salt and pepper shakers. These sets are easy to find at thrift stores around here and usually are just 50 cents to $1.I just recently posted some salt & pepper snow people and I mentioned that I used the tall shakers in the supplies photo in another project. Well here's that project.I started with the two tall glass shakers, some dark pink beaded garland, some white beaded garland, some vintage Christmas sheet music, and two small round ornaments. You'll also need a glue gun.I found a craft butterfly in my stash and used it as the pattern for a set of large wings. I just outlined it in pencil and cut it out of the sheet music. You can use whatever type of paper you like for the wings to get the look you want. Then I just winged it (pun intended, lol), and drew two sets of smaller wings to sit inside the larger set.I stapled all three sets of wings together at the centre. Then I filled the two shakers with the beading, one pink and one white, and glued on the ornament heads. Again, you can use whatever you like for the heads, and to fill the shakers to get your own look.
I'll keep the original salt and pepper caps in my stash for reusing someday in another project. Before gluing on the wings I dressed them up a bit.For this one I glued on a collar of satin decorative trim, and a silver key ring halo. And this one is dressed with some pretty pink and white lace, and a brass washer halo. This is a pretty easy project that would be great to make with children. The possibilities of how these could look are really endless depending on what supplies you use.Original article and pictures take http://www.hometalk.com/12013269/salt-and-pepper-angels site
